Has anyone in guild tried Mumble?
It's a open source voicechat app designed for gaming. Still being updated for pc and mac. (vent hasnt been touched since 2008 i hear).
Anyway, i read about it on a wow.com comment and checked out the site ( see below). Sounds better than vent, esp some of the features like auto volume matching, sound clarity and in game overlay of who is speaking.
Blood Legion, the guild that got world 1st LK10 kill uses this over vent I guess.
Best part, clients = free. Server softwar = free (if someone has a spare server laying around). Or server rentals are cheaper than vent ( so this wow.com post says...)
If anyone knows 1st hand about this, please post. Otherwise I'm going to try it out once i get home this week.

There are a lot of alternatives to vent such as simply skype and teamspeak. Reason why people prefer vent is cause its easy to use and you can control who accesses it with various passwords for the vent itself and channels.
